HELLOOOO!!! I’ll keep this short and just say that BRANDT WAS BAPTIZED.
We also went to Adam-Ondi-Ahman yesterday with our institute class!! I love that place so much. Our mission is nicknamed the Alpha and Omega mission because there’s so much history that’s happened here and even more history to come. You can definitely feel that as you’re at AOA. Our institute teacher, Sister Chapman, shared this quote with us from Elder Bruce R. McConkie:
“Christ will come in private to His Prophet and to the apostles then living. Those who have held keys and powers and authorities in all ages from Adam to the present will also be present. And further, all the faithful members of the Church then living and all the faithful saints of all the ages past will be present. It will be the greatest congregation of a faithful saints ever assembled on planet earth. It will be a sacrament meeting. It will be a day of judgement for the faithful of all ages. And it will take place in Daviess County, Missouri, at a place called Adam-ondi-Ahman.”
So yes, this place is extremely special. It was also really cool because my mom and I went there together about a year ago!! ALSO our recent convert of one day came with us!
OKAY so yes now for Brandt–the man of the hour. It was the most special day. Although I think all missionaries can agree that nothing ever goes right on the day of the baptism besides the baptism itself hahaha but it happened!!! and that’s all that matters. Brandt was BURSTING with joy after coming up out of the water. He couldn’t stop smiling! He even bore his testimony afterwards. It was incredible to see how much faith he had. His family was SO FAR from supportive but he went through with it anyways. After having some pre-baptism nervousness, he said to us, “I know that the Lord has led me to this point in my life. He wouldn’t chime in at the 11th hour just to tell me that it’s not all true.” We got permission to have him receive the gift of the Holy Ghost font-side because of Stake Conference this weekend. And wow that was also so powerful. I have learned so much from Brandt and feel so blessed to have been the instrument in the Lord’s hands to teach him. It reminds me of this scripture that I studied this week in the Book of Mormon:
“Yea, they were encircled about with everlasting darkness and destruction; but behold, he has brought them into his everlasting light, yea, into everlasting salvation; and they are encircled about with the matchless bounty of his love; yea, and we have been instruments in his hands of doing this great and marvelous work.”
Brandt truly has been brought into light. He has changed SO MUCH since we have met with him. I was also reminded of the quote from Elder Holland during this past General Conference, “Come as you are, but don’t plan on staying as you are.” THANK GOODNESS for repentance and the fact that we get to progress in the gospel every single day, just like converts!
So yes, my heart is just so full. ❤️️ I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM and already making plans to come back in a year for his endowment and also his sealing whenever he gets married so yeah. (He even told me he’d name one of his children Draper hahaha) I just feel so blessed to be a missionary and have the opportunity to teach some of Heavenly Father’s most prepared children.
Ps if ya would, please pray that we will be able to continue to meet with Aimee and Kelly this week! love the YSA but also curse the YSA because people are so busy and have school work and jobs and everything ://
LOVE YOU ALL. go talk to your coworkers about the gospel and give them a Book of Mormon because that’s how Brandt was introduced!!!
